Dairy Allergies Can Affect Your Thyroid
Many people are intolerant of dairy and don’t even know it. It is not just the lactose, which is the milk sugar, it is the proteins in the milk. Milk is a big part of our diets in America. We eat cheese, cream in our coffee, milk on our cereal, ice cream, butter on our toast. It is everywhere. Kids are encouraged to drink milk for strong bones..
Dairy products such as cheese, milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, cream, ice cream, whipped cream, etc., have proteins in them that are hard to digest. These proteins are also similar to the same proteins that our bodies are made of.
I’ve had many patients over the years who swear up and down they are not allergic to dairy. They have sinus and allergy problems and have no idea that dairy is a factor.
Please pay attention to how you react when you eat dairy. I am not saying to stop all dairy forever. That is your choice.
Symptoms of food reactions:
- Sudden sneezing when eating
- Sudden runny nose when eating or one hour after
- Runny eyes when eating
- Itchy throat
- Coughing during or after eating
If you pay attention, you can often notice these symptoms when eating foods you are reacting to. You will especially notice this because we can easily become allergic to foods we eat often. For some reason, our immune systems develop an intolerance to even healthy foods if eaten daily for months.
This can be observed if you try a rotation diet. In fact, many practitioners recommend a rotation diet to prevent further food allergies.
It is not recommended to eat any food every day for months. Even vitamins and herbs should be cycled and your body should get a break from them.
